**NEW** Jr Nordic cross-country skiing with Skiku
Skiku is partnering with the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage to offer additional Junior Nordic cross country skiing slots for novice and intermediate level skiers. Ski classes will be held twice per week on the groomed cross-country ski trails at Russian Jack Springs Park. Participants will be sized for ski equipment to borrow and use throughout the duration of the program. Participants will meet in one of two group levels: Polar Cubs (beginners) or Otters (beginning intermediate), and be assigned to coaches who will lead them in skiing skills progressions throughout the winter season. Activities include games, adventure skis, skills lessons, fitness coaching, and special activities on skis. Cross-country skiing is a fun, healthy form of physical activity in which participants rely on their own power to generate glide and forward motion across snow. Cross-country skiing activates muscles throughout the whole body and builds strength, balance, stamina, agility, and overall fitness. Skiing together in a class also builds camaraderie and enables participants to explore the great outdoors in a new way during the winter.
